The property, on Swetzer Road in Loomis, was entered by six men wearing law enforcement jackets and balaclavas, who proceeded to threaten the residents with handguns.
They took some processed marijuana which was being grown in the house for medical use under California’s Proposition 215, as well as several plants.
Officials said that ten to 20 pounds of the drug was stolen, although the exact amount is not known.
It is believed to be the first time a robbery in which attackers have targeted properties growing marijuana plants has taken place.
Police say they have no leads regarding the identities of the attackers.
Marijuana is legal for medical purposes in California under state law, although the U.S. federal government does not recognize that legalization and has been known to carry out raids to confiscate the drug.
