Six Arrested in Marijuana Raids

Police in El Dorado Hills and Placerville, California have reported the arrests of six people in connection with the cultivation of marijuana plants.
According to CNN, the plants were being grown in two locations, both of which were within high-class, occupied suburban houses.
Previously, marijuana has mostly been cultivated in empty homes or farms in non-public locations.
Gordon Taylor, special agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration, said over 1,300 plants had been seized from two of the eight locations searched.
Although marijuana is legal in California for medical purposes under state law, this conflicts with federal law which attests that it is illegal under all circumstances.
Earlier this week, it was reported that San Bernardino County in California is to appeal a ruling by the Supreme Court over the legality of marijuana.
The county lost a lawsuit on July 25, when a state law allowing patients to access marijuana for medical reasons with the recommendation of a physician was upheld.
